Inside mount
vertical blinds refer to blinds which are fixed within the
window opening i.e. not fitted flat against/on top of the
wall, but actually fitted inside the window opening itself.
Obviously, if the windows are flat/flush with the wall,
this won’t be a possible, so an outside mount will
be necessary.
Before beginning the job, ensue that
you have the right tools:
1. Writing materials – to record
the measurements
2. A steel tape measure – to prevent you having
to stretch across the window opening using both hands.
3. A step ladder – if the window is too high to
reach from a standing position.
For measuring the window WIDTH for vertical
blinds:
Take 3 measurements – left, middle
and right of the window opening, recording them to the
nearest 1/8 inch. Use the shortest measurement of the
3 as your width figure. N.B. always write the width measurement
first (width x height).
For measuring the window HEIGHT for
vertical blinds:
Take 3 measurements – top, middle
and bottom of the window opening, recording them to the
nearest 1/8 inch. Use the shortest measurement of the
3 as your height figure.
One Last Detail
If you require an inside mount
that is completely flush to the wall, make sure there’s
enough depth for the vertical blind mounting – check
with the blind manufacturer.
